Frequently asked questions

How DeskAbroad works, what data we collect, and how to get your space listed.

About DeskAbroad

What is DeskAbroad?

A free directory of coworking spaces, coliving spots, and work-friendly cafés for digital nomads and remote workers. We collect, score, and curate workspaces worldwide so you can find the best place to actually get work done — not just a place with WiFi.

What types of venues do you list?

Three types: coworking spaces (dedicated work environments with desks, fast internet, and membership options), coliving spots (accommodation built around remote workers, with integrated workspaces and community), and work cafés (coffee shops with reliable WiFi, plenty of outlets, and a laptop-friendly atmosphere).

Which cities are covered?

Da Nang, Vietnam is our first fully live city — 27 venues, scored and verified. Lisbon, Medellín, Chiang Mai, Barcelona, and more are in active preparation. We build out one city at a time so the data is actually good before it goes live.

Venue data & scoring

How are venues selected?

We collect candidates from Google Maps using coworking, coliving, and work-café keywords, then run them through a scoring pipeline. Each venue is evaluated on WiFi speed, Google rating, review volume, data completeness (price, hours, photos, amenities), and overall quality signals. Venues that don't clear our quality threshold are excluded.

What data do you collect for each venue?

Per venue we track: WiFi speed (Mbps), day pass and monthly rates (USD), noise level (quiet / moderate / lively), meeting rooms, air conditioning, outlet availability, opening hours, Google rating and review count, and photos. Most data comes from Google Places; prices and noise level are verified by our team or submitted by owners.

What does the venue score mean?

Each venue gets a quality score from 0 to 100. WiFi speed is weighted most heavily, followed by Google rating and review volume, then data completeness — how many fields like price, hours, and photos are filled in. A score of 70+ generally means a solid nomad workspace. Scores are recalculated each time we refresh the data.

How often is data updated?

We periodically refresh venue data from Google Places — ratings, review counts, opening hours, photos. The last-refreshed date is shown on each venue page. If something looks out of date, you can flag it directly from the venue page.

Using the directory

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up, no account, no paywall. The directory is free for everyone.

Can I filter by venue type?

Yes. On any city page, use the filter tabs to show only coworking spaces, coliving spots, or work cafés. You can also sort by best match, top rated, most reviewed, or name.

How do I find venues with the best WiFi?

Sort by "Best match" — WiFi speed is the top factor in the ranking. You can also spot WiFi speed directly on each venue card (shown in Mbps). Venues without a recorded WiFi speed are ranked lower.
